Sunday, June 24, 2012 - Cedar Rapids, IA to Des Moines, IA

Stephanie liked this light switch at the hotel in Newton, IA.

We're in Des Moines to see the Iowa Cubs (AAA for the Cubs) play the Round Rock (TX) Express (AAA for the Rangers).
Here's Todd and a HUGE Cub!

Sandlot baseball sculptures

Inside the Iowa Cubs ballpark. We love Iowa!

Also in the ballpark. Loving it.

Bob Feller, who led Stephanie's Indians to a World Series championship in 1948, is from these parts.

A walk-in beer cooler!

Iowa State Capitol as seen from the ballpark

We think this GuideOne insurance must be for itinerant ministers.
We also like the Homemakers glove!

Harry Canary leads us in a rousing version of "Take me out to the ballgame."

Des Moines keeps it's citizens cool, clean and safe!

Stephanie really really tried to get in here.

At one point, a little boy turned to Todd and asked, "What's that beard for?"
We said "fashion and laziness."

Hey! We're at the Iowa Cubs!

The Out-of-Towners beat the Local Boys.
Also, no one brought their buds to the bleachers.

Hi Cubbie Bear!

We went to Van Meter to pay tribute to Bob Feller at his museum, but it was already closed for the day.

Stephanie thought this was pretty

We went to Fort Dodge, IA to find a hotel. The past two nights we couldn't stay where we wanted because of A) a Paintball Tournament in IL and B) an Indycar race in IA. Todd posed the terrifying thought that we wouldn't be able to stay in Fort Dodge because of a Taxidermy Convention.

There WAS an event in our hotel that night! But they still had room for us.

We went to the Alzheimer's Benefit. This is one of the bands, the Austin Stranglers.

This is the local boy done good who came back to town to play the show. His name is Brandon Scott Sellner and he is an excellent guitar player!

Here's a clip from the show:

Thanks Fort Dodge!
