Sunday, July 1, 2012 - Sioux City, IA to Lincoln, NE

Dude. Why can't it be beer?

You make an excellent point!

Look!

Uh-oh...we're back the next day to take on Clyde's food challenge.

Clyde's Colossal Classic Challenge (45 minute time limit)
1. 6 mammoth onion rings
2. A 20oz. milkshake
3. A bowl of fries
4. 2 cheeseburger patties (about 8 oz each), bacon, sauteed onions, 1000 island dressing, lettuce, tomato
5. An enormous chocolate chip cookie with 3 scoops of ice cream

The devil on Todd's shoulder wins. Food competition it is!

Todd's cheering section

Paul came in today (on his day off) to witness the 1st attempt.
Time starts...NOW!

Rounds 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 have arrived. Todd still looks happy.

Just in case...the garbage can is in projectile range.

Round 5 arrives. Ulp.

15 minutes left. Todd does not look as happy.

Time's up.  The shake is done.  4 onion rings gone.  Burger and fries are mostly finished, but many sauteed onions remain.  Cookie/ice cream about half done.  Food challenge - Fail.

Todd did become the 1st to compete, and he is the 1st on the Wall of Shame.

They have a much different definition of a happy ending. We hope.

Lewis & Clark Trail

...and a restaurant

Hello Nebraska! We like trees too!

We're on the Express Lanes to Boy's Town.

Covered Wagon on Nebraska's state route sign.

Amen to that!

Todd has a Valley! And a Farm! And it's incorporated!

Where to go? How to decide? (duh - Wahoo!)

Welcome to Wahoo!

Perhaps we'll take a few hacks at Hackberry Park. In Wahoo.

The highway of football players who have no necks

We are at the Lincoln (NE) Saltdogs to see them play the Kansas City T-Bones. Another set of American Association teams.  The stadium also hosts the UN baseball team.

We have seen 5 of these teams play at home on this trip. We saw two others at home a few years ago.

It was blazing on the berm today.

Making hay!

K9

The Nebraska State Capitol is hiding back there.

Stands

We're not sure what to make of this.

THIS is where it's at. Where the Cornhuskers play football. Every game has been sold out for nearly 50 years.

Stephanie found a hippie!

Cool tables at the outfield bar

Flying weiners!

The wind cooperated with the photographer.

Human Bowling

Ste-e-e-rike! (the other kind)

K9 and Stephanie

Thank you Lincoln!

Final score - the Saltdogs were crushed by a bunch of steaks. And the steaks were't even Omaha Steaks!

Cool manhole cover

We think this is the mascot's car.

OH NO! We've been "Panera-ed!"
Definition: We ate at a place we'd never seen before and found out later it was a chain!

Heehee!
